RE: MR-Disc: Activity Survey

Poster: "Thorpe, John" <thorpj@caepo1.columbiaSC.NCR.COM>

Greetings from Eldred!

This is almost too easy.... 8^/ I respond half humorously, and half
humorlessly.....

Scripsit el Bufon:

%As I have mentioned, I am new to Atlantia, and concerned that
%the things I used to do in AEthelmearc are inappropriate to
%genteel Atlantian Society. I now invite you to rate my
%activities to the following scale:

%+3: I wish more people would do this.
%+2: You'll fit right in doing this.
%+1: Some people really like this, and nobody really hates it.
%+0: This is about what I'd expect from you.
%-1: If this is what you want to do, I won't stop you,
% but I don't want to see it.
%-2: If you do this, be sure people know you're from the East
% (It's good to be reminded why we broke off from y'all)
%-3: I'm glad you brought this up here first, before you went
% and ruined an actual event.
%-4: Depending on the site, this may be against mundane law.

%And now, the questionable activities:

+2 A: Singing songs about the SCA, set to 20th century tunes.

+2 B: Singing songs about or from post-Period Scotland, Ireland, or Canada.

+1 C: Singing songs from the Period in the original language.

-1.5 D: Having myself called into court to make a fawning tribute to
royalty.

I have to qualify this....If you try this in one of my courts, I'll stop
you...unless
you are performing this as lampoon of other fawning tributes to royalty.
Southern Atlantians have a low tolerance for vacuum cleaners....8^)

+1.5 E: Having myself called into court to publicly proclaim love for my
wife.

Not usually during Court. We handle this during feast....unless you plan
on posting banns of marriage--not to be confused with banishment of
marriage, tho' some may wish to ban marriages....

+0 F: Wearing various unregistered fool attire:
+2 F-a: Jester's cap and bells of two ears per pale argent and azure.
+0 F-b: Cavalier breeches and coat per pale argent and azure.
-4 F-c: T-tunic per pale blue plaid and red plaid.
-2 F-d: Lots and lots of bells, at wrists and ankles, and on my zone.

Atlantia has no sumptuary laws beyond the Society-wide tokens of rank.

+2 G: Bringing in a big box of board games, including:
+0 G-a: Fanorona, the national game of Madagascar.
+3 G-b: Byzantine Round Chess.
+3 G-c: XiangQi (Chinese Chess)
+3 G-d: Shogi (Japanese Chess)
+0 G-e: Kaissa (Gorean Chess)
+0 G-f: Jetan (Barsoomian Chess)

+0 H: Spinning a bamboo humming top.
+1 I: Shouting "Vivant!" instead of "Vivat!" when more than one person
     is being acclaimed.
+0 J: Shouting "Vivamus!" instead of "Vivat!" when the acclamation is
     something like "To the Populace"
-4 K: When a lady offers her hand, bowing low and placing her hand on
     the top of my head.
+1 L: Performing half of a comic dialog in Latin.
+3 M: During the feast, proposing a toast ("Incolumes reveniant") for
all Scadians mundanely deployed in harm's way.

Amusedly,
Eldred
