Speaking as someone who's washed a few spaniels (English Cockers, roughly
20lb dogs; I am told the Cavalier King Charles runs 12-18lbs), you really
wouldn't have melting starch to deal with for that long.  Spaniels are
capable of spreading bath water around so efficiently that it would be
completely rinsed out of the frills in no time.  Then you'd have to chip 
it off the floor ...

This is why we need minions.
