Someone posted on the Rialto recently that you shouldn't consider
cigarettes obtrusively modern because historians had found reference
to cigarettes from just a few years after the Period, but hadn't
found anything from the Period that said cigarettes did _not_
exist.  Maybe someone should mention this song there.
