Caer Mear Pronunciation

As it was explained to me, once upon a time, it should be pronounced (pseudo
wierd phonetics - i.e. using standard English words that sound the same)
'car mare'.  However, I have heard it pronounced (more psuedo wierd
phonetics) 'care mare' more frequently.
