An addendum to my women's tourney post
Poster: jsrechts@imap.unc.edu
I wrote earlier that women tend to be as successful at fighting because
they do a number of activities as well as fighting.
This is not to be taken as "Women do everything and men are a bunch of
stickjocks". If you ask your average woman fighter in the SCA what she
does other than fighting, chances are
that you'll receive a laundry list of activities they also do. Because
women start out at physical disadvantage (which can be made up through
proper training). In order for a woman to really excell at fighting,
she really needs to limit her other activities sharply and concentrate
on fighting.
It's the old notion of concentrating on one thing at a time. Some
people happen to succeed at anything they touch but they are the
minority.
