Usually cotton, a plain weave of a suitable weight for shirts or sheets --
see also T-tunics.  The kind you get for $.89/yd. is usually also unbleached
and on the narrow side.  However, it's great for making mock-ups before
cutting the expensive fabric for those major court-garb projects!
