Renaissance Prints Exhibit

Poster: Katherine Norris <knorris@richmond.edu>

The following is the program blurb for an exhibit at the Marsh Gallery at
the University of Richmond - it runs through 2 April and is fairly
interesting (and period :-) ). For directions check out
http://chemweb.urich.edu/modlinarts/html/directions.html . The Gallery is
open Tuesday thru Saturday 1PM to 5PM and is closed March 8-15 (for Spring
Break).

Just passing along the info,

Religion & Politics: The Renaissance Print in Social Context
February 18 to April 2, 1999
Marsh Art Gallery

The exhibition features over 60 prints, ranging in dates from 1395 to 1567,
by the great masters of the Renaissance,
from Albrecht Altdorfer, Lucas Cranach the Elder and Albrecht Dürer, to
Hans Baldung Grien, Andrea Mantegna,
Israhel van Meckenem and Martin Schongauer. Chosen to reflect the life of
the period, its political realities, religious
upheavals, intellectual concerns and social mores, the images are laden
with the fascinating story of Renaissance
society.
