Re: Labels (was: Royal Arms)

Greetings from Tibor, a middle-weight herald.

Q: What is the in-period meaning of the label?

In some cultures, in late period, it was primarily the means by which the
principal heir would designate themselves: by bearing the armory of their
parents, with a label for difference.

Society practice allows people to designate armorial heirs, with a letter to
the College of Arms. The heir may automatically bear their arms with a
label.

However, in the Society, the label is also a charge which may be used, and
registered.
