GARB WARS

The Barony of the Bright Hills invites one and all to join us for our
annual Arts Challenge - Garb Wars! We will also be celebrating the
10th Anniversary of Bright Hills and have included several activities
especially for this celebration. This year the event is dedicated to
the children. The theme is "A Page from History -- A Child's Eye
View." Once again we have the Team sewing competition. There will be
assorted classes and workshops, an A&S display and competition and we
will be hosting the Atlantian Marshals Course. This is a required
course for anyone wishing to become an Atlantian marshal or anyone who
must renew their warrant.

This year's A&S competition will reflect the event theme and entries
must be something for children. Toys, games, garb, armor (yes,
armor!), anything used by, worn by or for a child. There will be a
"documentation only" category. Something new from our A&S officer and
this should be interesting. She doesn't want the item -- just its
documentation. A challenge for those folks who say "I've got the
documentation to prove it" but don't have the actual item ready yet.
There will also be a Bright Hills History Quiz and display of items
from Bright Hills' early years.

There will be tourneys for Heavy Weapons, Duello, and Archery. The
Atlantian Marshals course will be held on Saturday, May 18 and will
start at 10 am. Pages school will be in session for the children with
varying levels of activity for different age groups.

The site is Rocks 4-H Camp, 8 Cherry Hill Rd., Street, MD. The site
opens at 6 pm on Friday, May 17 and closes at 1 pm on Sunday, May 19.
There are both tenting and dorm spaces available, hot showers and the
site is "wet."

Merchants are most welcome. Advance notice would be much appreciated.

Cost of the event is $15.00 On Board and $8.00 Off Board for adults.
Children 6 - 12 are half price. Children under 6 are guests of the
Barony. Please make checks payable to Barony of Bright Hills/SCA.
