Clothing.  Sturdy working clothing.

I strongly doubt that there was any sort of uniform like the modern 
chef's hat.  Cooking was not a high-class occupation--through most
of the middle ages a cook was a labourer like a sawyer, a tanner,
a porter, and so on.  Labourers did not have more than one or two
sets of clothing through most of the middle ages.  They surely didn't
have specialized clothing marking their occupation (except for the purely
functional stuff like a sturdy leather apron for woodworkers, masons,
and the like).
