new approach

I, too, think the new approach is best for the forum, even though I often 
reply only to the sender.  Corun was correct, the whole point of a listserve 
is public banter and/or information sharing.  Private messages (as important 
as they are for certain things) are the exception, and the format should 
reflect that.
