That would be Harpo, the silent partner. But you're right, if ever there was
a modern variant of Harlequino it was Harpo.

nitpick." Good catch. (Although I could swear I saw Groucho do it once on
You Bet Your Life, although I wouldn't put big money on it.)
Actually, I've heard a good case for there being a modern television program
that was consciously based upon the standard commedia d'el arte characters,
right down to one of the names. Very popular: you all know the tune to the
theme song. So, was Gilligan Harlequino?
