Swedish Library Fire(bomb?)

Poster: "Lynn Pawelka" <lynn_pawelka@server.hort.ncsu.edu>

I heard a very sad news item about the destruction Friday night (9/20) of a
library in Linkoeping, Sweden. According to the Associated Press (9/21), the
library contained, "manuscripts from the Middle Ages and about 70,000 books...
There are maps, prints and paintings... texts from the 900s and a chamber for
handwritten manuscripts".

The fire apparently was arson, and may have resulted from a bomb destined
for an immigration office which had its offices in the same building. As of
Saturday there was some question whether the library's storage vaults in
the basement of the building had escaped harm.

It is possible that this is the "Stifts Lands Biblioteket" of Linkoeping, and
that its collection included all the church records for the medieval
administration of the surrounding area.

Anqone else heard about this?
