armor

This goes out to anyone that has any experience making armor,
specifically body armor.  This past weekend I was able to authorize, but
in a suit of armor that was rather uncomfortable for me.  During the
tourney, I was able to see various types of different armor and I'm
pretty sure what I want make.  Question is if I use aluminum for the
plates, what is minimum thickness that I can use?  Thanks for any help
that I can get.
