RE: coat of arms necessary vs required

Poster: "Ed Hopkins" <Ed.Hopkins@MCI.Com>

Tisman questioned:
T> Is it really necessary to have a device registered to put
T> it on your shield?

Anne answered:
A> Yes, it is necessary.

Tibor gainsaid:
M> Anne, that is simply false. Some think it is a good idea,
M> and some don't. But it is NOT required to register arms.

His Drakkarship, Hreodbeorht MacBeath responded:
D> You are correct to say it is not "required" (but then - that
D> is not what she said, is it?). You are wrong to say it is not
D> necessary.

Whatever opinion each of us holds about whether it is
_necessary_ or _sufficient_ or _required_ to register
one's device, I think we can all agree on one thing:

It _behooves_ one to get one's device registered.
