Bovine Visions
Poster: John Strauss <jstrauss@gmu.edu>
Clearly what happened is this:
Arms with a goat emblazoned on them were submitted, along with
some very obvious verbal clues indicating that the beastie was a goat.
And yet, somehow, the heralds saw a cow.
Perhaps this was some sort of estatic vision of the Holy Cow which
Burt Ward used to mention.
This happens quite often. In my home town of El Paso, a woman
recently saw Jesus Christ on a tortilla, in spite of several verbal clues
on the package, in two languages, which indicated that this was a corn
tortilla, NOT a holy relic of her Savior.
So cut the heralds a little slack. Religious experiences are
stressful and they might be a bit disoriented.
