Origin of Basket Hilts

Poster: Tom Rettie <tom@his.com>

Good Gentles:

Sorry, no great controversy here....

In my wanderings I revisited the Mary Rose Trust web site, and there
noticed a page on the origin of the basket hilt. You late period folks
might find this of interest, as it supports the existence of a style of
sword in 1545 that many have regarded as post-1600. Or this may be old
news to you.

The page can be found at:

http://www.maryrose.org/sword.htm

I hope some find this useful. We now return to your regularly scheduled
programming.

Your servant,

Findlaech MacAlasdair
