Greetings from Master Terafan,

	Emerald Joust information HAS CHANGED !!!

	For all of those who weren't sure about the info in the April Acorn,
here is the latest accurate information.

Emerald Joust

	The Barony of Caer Mear invites you to compete for your share of
glory in the  Emerald Joust.   The tournament will be held on the US Army
Quartermaster Center & School main parade field at Fort Lee, VA.  
  
	Emerald Joust will be held Saturday & Sunday, 23-24 May 98.  The
site will open at 4 PM on Friday evening and close at midnight on Sunday.
Those wishing to arrive Friday night or stay Sunday night must make advance
reservations and arrangements.  Camping will be on the edge of the field.
Showers will be available.  No ground fires allowed. Lanterns and similar
items are OK.   Pets not on a leash will be subject to eviction.  The site
is discreetly wet.  Merchants are welcome with advance reservations.  

	Activities will include heavy tournaments, rapier tournaments, and
an archery tournament. The tourneys will be BOTH Saturday and Sunday, with
an open Arts & Sciences display on Saturday.
  
	A feast, prepared by Sir Tojenarum of Grenville, will be served
"tavern style".  TJ is planning hot dishes including prime rib as well as
cold dishes.  Feast is $5 with advance reservations (before 20 May) and $7
at the door.   Children between 10 and 17 are $2.50 with advance
reservations and $4.50 at the door.  Those under 10 are guests of the
barony.  Those with dietary concerns can contact Sir TJ at (804) 264-0495.

	On Saturday evening will be a meeting of the SFPSFS (Society For
Preservation and Study of Fruit Soup).  Dues will be collected at the
meeting.  Fruit Soup will be available for study and preservation.  We are
planning  night activities like cambok and croquet, as well as others (as we
think of them).  

	The site fee is NOTHING.  That's correct, ZERO!   The citizens of
Caer Mear invite you to join us as guests of the barony.  To help defray
cost of the tourney prizes, a  $2 dollar donation from adults will be
appreciated, but not required.   Check-in at troll is required for everyone
at Emerald Joust.

Comfort Inn, 5380 Oaklawn Blvd,  (Between I-295 and Fort Lee).   (804)

8 May.  Let them know you are in the "SCA".

DIRECTIONS: 

FROM the SOUTH on I-85:  Take I-85 North to I-95 North.  Take Exit 54,
Temple Ave.  At the traffic light (at the end of the ramp) turn right.  Go
through 6 traffic lights and enter Fort Lee (at the 6th Street gate).   If
you turn left at the 6th traffic light, you will find the Comfort Inn.

FROM the SOUTH (or NORTH) on I-95:  Take I-95 North (or South) to I-295
North (or South).  Take Exit 9B, Route 36, towards Fort Lee.  At the 4th
traffic light, turn left to enter Fort Lee (at the 6th Street gate). You
will pass the Comfort Inn on your way to the turn into Fort Lee.

FROM the EAST or WEST:  Take I-64 to Richmond, and take I-295 South.  Take
Exit 9B, Route 36, towards Fort Lee.  At the 4th traffic light, turn left to
enter Fort Lee (at the 6th Street gate). You will pas the Comfort Inn on
your way to the turn into Fort Lee.

ENTERING Fort Lee: Once you pass the guard shack, turn right at the second
light (onto A Avenue).  Go approximately 1 mile to 22nd Street.  Turn left
onto 22nd Street.  The troll booth will be on the right, on the edge of the
field.
