Alternate methods of selecting royalty

Since we are discussing proposals for new selection methods, emphasis on
discussing.  How about a heavy list and a rapier list.  The winners of
both lists face each other in a contest which is fair to both i.e. a
chess game, an axe throw or some other contest where there is a definite
winner.

Just a thought.
