Principle Motivations

It is a mistake to ascribe simple motivations to a group of any size.
You're guaranteed to be wrong.

Some people think a Principality (P) is a good idea in it's own right.
Some people think a P is a good idea because it's a necessary step before
becoming a kingdom.
These two are not mutually exclusive.
Almost all the supporters of a P have additional reasons for thinking a P is
a good idea.
Some of these reasons are very noble and some might seem venal.

Any attempt to label all supporters of P with only one motive is simplistic
and incorrect.

Even more problematic is to attempt to predict what will be the motivations
of these groups two years from now.

Which is not to say that the P->K transition is not inevitable.
But that's a different subject...
