Siege of Glengary

September 25th - September 27th 1998
On a dark mist shrouded mountain in a kingdom known as AEthelmearc a war drum
thunders, battle horns throughout the land take up this call to war. For once
again the English dogs are on the prowl & only the blood of Scots will sate
their hunger! To all who read these words or hear our plight, the Shire of
Sylvan Glen invites you to the: 

Third Annual, Siege of Glengary. 

The site opens Friday September 25 at 12 noon & closes at 3 PM Sunday
September 27, & is located at the beautiful Lazy A Campground in Glengary WV.
Pets are allowed, but all animals must be on a leash or a tether. The site has
some limited electrical hook-ups(first come, first served), hot showers, & is
completely wet (period containers only). A simple but hearty tavern style meal
will be served to 175 *pre-registered* gentles on Saturday evening, complete
with serving wenches & live entertainment. Seating will only be available to
those "On-Board." 

The Siege shall consist of three main battles: The Field Battle,the Bridge
Battle, and the Siege of the Castle. The outcome of the Siege shall determine
who defends the castle next year. Combat archers are most welcome. There will
also be a Firelight Tourney Friday night, Authorizations Saturday Morning, and
a Bearpit Tourney Sunday Morning. 

There will be archery competitions, including Royal Rounds &  novelty shoots.
Saturday Morning Royal Rounds shall help determine starting positions of the
Bridge Battle. 

Other activities include: Best & Worst uses of plaid competition, "Make it
Mushrooms" cooking competition, a brewing competition, as well as organized
children's activities, court dancing, an A & S display, and a large bon-fire
Saturday Night. 

Merchants are welcome & there is no merchant fee, though a donation would be
appreciated.

Pre-Reservation Off-Board Price: $8.00 
Off-Board Price at the Door: $10.00 
Smalls Age 12 and Under Half Price, Babes in arms are free

Directions: 

Take your best route to I-81. Take exit 5 (Inwood, WV). Get on Rt 51 west. Go
about 5 miles to the top of the big hill. Turn left onto Rt 45. Go about 3
miles to Glengary WV. Turn right at the small grocery store/post office. Go
about 2.5 miles to Back Creek Valley Fire Hall & turn right. Go to the end of
the road.
