Spinners needed for Ymir Sheep to Shawl
Poster: Robert and Tammy Jones <rissaroo@mindspring.com>
Come, join us for the social event of the year!
As you may know, I am organizing a sheep-to-shawl spinning and weaving
demonstration to be held at Ymir in February. For those who don't know
what a sheep-to-shawl is, we will start with a raw fleece and a pre-warped
loom. We will spin the fleece into yarn and weave it into a beautiful
shawl. The shawl should be completed by the end of the day.
I have the loom, the fleece, the warp, and the weaver. Now, all that is
needed are the spinners. ANY level is acceptable. So bring your wheels,
your spindles, your friends, everything you've got, and get ready to have
some fun! The last time we did this it was a great success, and I'd really
like to see the same this time.
If you can't spin, you can still join in the fun! It will help to speed
things up if we have people helping us card and comb fleece and wind balls
of yarn.
Also, we have received a gracious donation of some Angora rabbit hair. I'd
like to either incorporate it into the shawl somehow, or if we have enough
interested spinners, we could have a bunny-to-bonnet on the same day.
I'd like to hear from as many of those who are coming as possible. This
will give me some idea of what to expect.
Hope to see you all there!
Branwen Wallis
