RE: Fabric for the Frugal

Oops - I replied to an individual on this, not the group - sorry!
There's also a Mae's in Durham, off Hillsborough Rd. at the 15-501 exit
off I-85 and one in Burlington, at the BMOC outlet exit (145, I think)
off I-85. I just bought 12 yards of $18.99/yd. wool (various colors, in
lengths of 2-4 yds. each - good-sized remnants) for $1.99/yd. there on
Fri. Linen blends off the bolt (which I like for garb because they
*look* period, are less expensive, & are machine washable & don't
wrinkle as badly as 100% linen) are slightly reduced at $4.59/yd. from
$5.80/yd.; wool and flannel from the bolt is about $3.79-$7.99. Muslin's
on sale for $.99/yd. They usually have reasonably good prices on
upholstery fabrics, and some of those are pretty good for late-period
garb.

BTW: If you're looking for higher-end fabric, The Cotton Boll off
Franklin Street in Chapel Hill has just gotten in their spring shipment
with some very nice linens. Their wool and wool blends are on sale for
about 40% off right now. Mulberry Silks in Carrboro has about every
kind of silk you can think of, from $9.99/yd. up to $99.99/yd. for the
really good stuff. They don't have sales very often, but I just thought
I'd pass that along if you're looking for something really nice.

So, now you all know what I do in my spare time, eh? :-)

Happy shopping!

Kateryn
