[That side of it isn't the problem.  The problem occurs when the person that
only wants to take a light shot doesn't understand why his/her opponent
won't take the same shot with the same force that they take.]

[BTW:  the "bowling ball" test is described accurately except for a couple
of things:

1, the bowling ball isn't on a 4x4, it's on a steel pipe just big enough to
hold it in place, say 1".

2, there's a screen between you and the ground where the ball lands so you
can't see where you're aiming and pre-judge your blow.

3.  The guy that ran/runs it videotapes everything you do with an emphasis
on aiming the camera at the spot where your sword hits the bowling ball so
he can get a good idea of whether your shot hits the bowling ball squarely.
