Weight of bowling ball: I dunno exactly. It moved fairly easily so I'd
guess somewhere in the 6# - 8# range.
Targeting circles? There weren't any. Just a measuring tape lying on the
ground. And that one stayed there, IIRC. If the bowling ball didn't leave
the stick in a straight line, they just ran another tape out to the impact
point. Think of a discus throw rather than attempting to aim for a specific
point.
And yes, I actually participated in this. So did Sir Kane. I don't
remember if any other Atlantians did. It was at GW (IV? V?). The idea was
to hit the bowling ball squarely 3 times: once with what you considered
"barely" good, once "good", and once with everything you had. Also, the
idea was to tell the guy doing the measuring what you considered your shot
to be on a 10 scale; i.e., the "barely" good being a 2 or whatever, the
"good" being a 5, and the "all" being an 8 or 9. Or 10, logically. :)
