Ack. at Renn. Faire
Poster: Lisa Leedy <alyclepal@mindspring.com>
Ravnscribe,
I find your remarks misplaced, and I do believe you are trying to
single out a particular fighter. Many fighters who were invited didn't make
it to Renn. faire, and most of them were equal in level to anyone there.
Some were better. I went and participated in Renn Faire--since I wasn't
blowing anyone over that day(falling on them since I was sick maybe,
trampling def. not:>) I understand that your not aiming this at me, however
I feel that you need to stand behind your accusations rather than hiding
behind a fake identity or excuse. I was invited to participate not for an
award, but to try and help recruit new people. That's the most important
part of what demo's should be about. I'm not a totally skilled fighter
Yet... but I have killed at least once every skilled, authorized fighter I
fought there. I know who was there and who fought, and watched almost all
the fights. I've been taking the Marshalling track, so I've learned a lot
of the situations to watch out for, and tried to for the most part. I
didn't personally see anything inappropiate on the fighting field in regards
to the actual fighting, although I did see a ill timed temper flare up which
seemed more a lack of communication between adrenalin-high men then anything
else.
Regardless of what you insinuate to have occurred, I didn't see it
and it wouldn't be your place to call blows or fighting. If that fighter
had a problem that fighter had to speak up for himself. It should have been
dealt with there by him. If the fighter had a gripe, then the fighter
should have addressed it at the time. That's how it's done. There was
nobody there terribly intimidating or cruel that couldn't be approached. If
they can't take regular combat, don't get on the field. I've got the lowest
pain tolerance of anyone I know and I took everything dished out that day
and returned it too.
Lord Gaston is exceptionally correct to tell you to get into armor
and get authorized. Blows should be called by the participants on their
honor, not by the crowd. That demo did not seem high pressure to me, and
your friend could have asked for calibration shot at any time. I came away
bruised and battered--cause "I" didn't move fast enough, not because someone
was out there beating people up. None of the experienced fighters there
have ever used Me as a pell, doesn't really seem in character for them since
their all eager to put their two cents worth in on what one can do to
improve. I didn't see any games of Maim that Goon. Blame might more
correctly be placed on an inexperienced person putting themselves in a
position they couldn't handle, or someone with on off the field gripe
bringing it on the field---But You and I don't know cause WE are Not that
person.
I was extremely disappointed in some of the "sportsmanship" and
group participation off the field at that demo, but everything I saw on the
field was done within the established rules. If you really meant to state
your letter another way, then perhaps more forethought would be appropriate
before you make accusations. As a side note, it's also a little insulting
to everyone else that fought that you think we were all so inferior to your
specific person. Everyone's fighting grows and improves according to the
effort and preperation the fighter puts in it, so I wouldn't write off any
fighter in any particular fight who is improving in their fighting and
actively learning and practicing.
My sincere opinions,
Lady Alyssa Celeste da Palestrina
ps---I'm emailing this privately and
publically cause the accusations
were made in public on this list.
