Congrats, and Hoopla! Bright Hills Baronial Birthday
Poster: Julien de Montfort <julien@spiaggia.org>
Greetings to all upon these lists! I am cross-posting a bit, so my
apologies if anyone gets multiples of this email.
I just wanted to say how much fun I had this past weekend at Bright
Hills Baronial Birthday. The event went very smoothly, there was lots
to do, with drumming, dancing, merchants, a delicious feast,
entertainment -- in general, just a heluva good time. ;-)
First off, it had an oriental ("east of italy" ;->) theme again as it
did last year, in honor of their Excellencies, but I was pleasantly
surprised by the great turnout this year of people actually in eastern
garb of some sort. We had plenty of Oriental personas/garb last year,
but this year was even more impressive.
Secondly, kudos for some of the little touches. For example, I really
liked the belly-dancing display for Their Highnesses and their
Excellencies immediately after the close of court; it was a simple yet
very nice display that I could easily imagine happening in a court of
the the east.
And gifts! Gifts, gifts, gifts. I've seldom seen such a large number
of gifts given at a single event, and they were all wonderful.
I would also like to take a moment out and bring special attention to
Their Highnesses, who were there representing the Crown. Prince
Stephan and Princess Niobe were both regal and eloquent, and Their fair
mannerisms and devotion to their office speaks volumes about Them, our
Kingdom and our Society.
And, saving the (admitadely-biased opinion here) best for last, I wish
to publically congratulate those four members of Spiaggia Levantina who
were awarded recognition there: Vivats to LORD Mieszko Zielinski, LORD
Aron Neidzwiedz, and LORD Morgan Wainwright. And vivats to Katerina
Volokhovna upon receiving the Heart of the Oak (Bright Hills children's
service award), who, despite her tender age of but nine years, is
higher on the Order of Precedence than a lot of adults I know. ;-)
Other, no less worthy gentles were similarly awarded this past weekend,
but I shall allow others to congratulate further, as I am not positive
of the names.
And, a hearty thank you to Lady Isabel, the Autocrat, Lord Havelyard,
the Cook, all the staff and members of the Barony who helped to make it
such a fun event, and all those of Fair Atlantia who attended. :-)
