Re: More SCA Stories

Got another one that I just heard that should be (if not already is) urban
legend. This one is about John Bearkiller and the Attack of the Killer Tomato
Armor. The story that I was told was that Bearkiller picked up a suit of red
Oriental armor that he had ordered at one Pennsic at the next and wore it for
the war. He was at one of his heavier fighting weights and with the helm and
armor (all bright red), he was a rather large and unmistakeable figure on the
field. At any rate, during the bridge battle, neither side was willing to
budge and John the Bearkiller strode out into the center and began calling out
Atlantian fighters three at a time to fight him. After dispatching each group,
he would swagger around and loudly call out the next three. The Atlantians
were so rapt by him that they didn't notice the other side creeping forward
with each bout until they were 27 fighters down. Then the real battle
started. All that is believable, mind you. What is the part that is legend to
me is that some of the fighters took to singing the "Attack of the Killer
Toamtoes" song whenever Bearkiller would start swaggering and calling.
Brenna
(who has learned that discussing this with other SCAdians who are not on here
is almost as funny as sitting back and watching the posts on here--how many
urban legends do we have anyway?)
