Lady Elsa brings up a very good point. I am by nature, I think, a
pretty polite guy. Mom and Dad taught me to open doors for people, say
thank you and please, etc. Now, my dear Lady is a modern woman of the
90's, and when we first started going out, she kept giving me grief
about always opening the car door for her, etc. ("I'm a big girl, I can
open a door by myself.")

It's an unfortunate fact of life that in today's modern world, some
women feel they may be being condescended to if a man opens a door or
offers to carry something for her (we've gotten better -- she still
won't let me carry her gear for her at events, but at least she doesn't
give me That Look anymore when I open the car door for her :->)

who was very impressed at Northern Regional 12th Night when His
Highness, in addition to all the standard toasts given at feast, added
one to the Ladies of Fair Atlantia. :-)
