Prices on Pultruded fiberglass piping - SPEARS

Poster: blackbow@mindspring.com

All right, here's the deal -

Poltruded fiberglass piping is available in the dimensions specified in the
1994 Marshallate handbook, i.e., 1-1/4" Outer Diameter (OD), 1" Inner
Diameter (ID), 1/8" sidewall, at the ridiculously high price of $1.24 (yes
that's one dollar and 24 cents) a FOOT. This magnificent sum results in a
9' spear shaft for ... quick, do the math... $11.16 (yes that's eleven
dollars and sixteen cents).

Gasp for air. Order a few.

The fiberglass shaft comes in what the vendor describes as a "dark olive
green" which should be fine for those camo spears you've been dying to make.

As for how it's gonna get there... I refuse to speculate on what the mail
carriers would charge for that. If it's much closer than Raleigh, hell,
just schedule me a fighter practice (i.e., give me an excuse to drive there)
and I'll bring them myself. This includes Columbia, Greenville, etc. Yes,
Cunradt, this includes you. RSVP. You'll have to take on the
responsibility of organizing the fighter practice, but so what? We need
more anyway.

If that doesn't work, pick a nearby event and go to it and let me know when
you'll be in the vicinity. I can easily make sure that something gets to
Boat Wars, Feast of Thirty (yes I know they're on the same day, worse luck),
or another list of events that you'll have to ask about. If you swear up and
down that you'll have money for me I can make (maybe) Ice Castles and the
baronial fighter practice in Columbia for a few spears. Not many. RSVP.

Now, about the money: Whatever over cost that you think is appropriate. If
$15 is a nice round number for you to remember, great. If you're scraping
bottom, $12. If people take too much advantage of it ("buy it and drive it
to Maryland, OK?") I'll reluctantly set a standard price. Probably a good
bit higher. Remember these things are a pain to transport. They don't
weigh anything but they take up stupid amounts of space for their size. If
you get together a bulk order I can put my roof rack on top and lash them to
that.

If you want to get really masochistic and ship, you'll have to figure out
how much that would cost to ship and do the actual shipping mechanism
yourself.

I don't think there's any sort of bulk discount.

I haven't actually bought one of these things for myself yet, so I make
absolutely no claims as to its composition or quality other than the fact
that I told the sales rep "poltruded fiberglass piping in these dimensions."
And he knew exactly what I meant.

PS - I don't know if they're open Saturdays but I think so.
