I must correct you.


Rhubarb contains oxalate crystals, which have been reported to cause
poisoning when large quantities of raw or cooked leaves are ingested.
The stalks
contain low levels of oxalates, so this does not cause problems.

                Does rhubarb ever bring on tears?  (Unless eaten raw,
and then it brings on a
                lot more than just that!*)
                Plus rhubarb isn't "hairy underneath"  -- the stalks are
cut, not uprooted.

                Rhubarb would make a good basis for a new riddle, tho --
lots of interesting
                qualities and not a plant that comes readily to mind.

                *Caveat to general readers:  do NOT eat raw rhubarb,
it's toxic!
