RE: Definition of geek

Poster: barclayp@LEE.ARMY.MIL

Kevin,

I think it certainly does classify you as a "geek", but it also
means that the term "geek" is a term of HONOR and DISTINCTION. Only the
best of us get to be computer "geeks". I am proud to be a geek, and glad
that the Army has seen fit to let me be a geek for the rest of my career.

The term "nerd" on the other hand... is still slightly denigrating.

Heck, if you are going to be a geekosaurus, be a Geekosaurus REX!!

If we're continuing the topic anyway, I'd say that being heavily
involved with computers and networking no longer classifies one as a
"geek". It's a sign of the times.
