My steel-sieve memory seems to think that Bertram of Bearington (?)
originally suggested "The Merry Rose in Cheapside" after the tavern-theme
and nautical-theme folks had each other on the ropes, and that it _was_
meant to be a play on the "Mary Rose"... For what it's worth...
