Pointless War (from rec.org.sca)
I don't think I saw this on the Merry Rose, but after Istvan mentioned
reading it, I went looking for it on the Rialto. If it has already
been posted here, please forgive me. (I left for vacation and wound
up a few hundred messages behind.)

Pointless War III
or
The Atlantia/East Inter-Kingdom Gathering
6-9 October 1995
Here at the Four Quarters Farm Atlantia and the East will gather on the
field of honor, once again, not as adversaries, but as friends. Their
Highness’ of Atlantia and the East invite all warriors, artisans and
gentles to join Them amongst the oaks and pines in a more than pointless
effort. So come and enjoy the light-hearted competition to hone our
skills, both martial and artistic.
The site will open Friday, 6 October, at 3 p.m. There are wonderful
camping areas along the Sidling Hill Creek. The Farm has approximately
160 acres of land, which is ample space for our activities and
for parking. The upper fields will be used for both heavy and light
weapons melee combat on Saturday from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. There will
also be an area devoted to archery (free of bio-hazards). Campers
are encouraged to bring solar showers, but keep in mind, the creek,
which surrounds the camping area on three sides, forms many wonderful
ponds providing for excellent bathing, proper swimming attire
required. The site closes Sunday, 9 October, around 1 p.m.
Site Fees:

be charged. Children under 12 are half price.
Note: A feast is not being provided.
The site mentioned above, Four Quarters Farm in Artemus, PA, is located
in the foothills of the Alleghanys, within two miles of the
Maryland/Pennsylvania border. It is west of the city of Hancock,
two hours from Baltimore and six hours from New York. Off I-68 take
exit 68 North, right onto Rt. 40, immediate left onto North Orleans Rd,
follow the road for two miles passing two bridges. After the
first bridge the road curves right and after the second bridge make a
left onto the Four Quarters Farm Road, signs will guide the way.
The site is primitive, porta-johns will be available, trash bags will
be provided at Troll so that each camper can remove his/her own trash.
Littering, especially cigarette butts, will not be tolerated and can result
in removal from the site of the guilty parties. The site is discreetly
wet and no pets are allowed. Four Quarters Farm is a beautiful site and
the autocrats and the owners would like to keep it that way, so please
be considerate.
If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to come to the
Pre-Pointless Prep Party at the site, please feel free to contact
either of us. Send reservations to Tara.
