It is also spelled "tschues" (t-s-c-h-u with an umlaut-single s),
at least where I did my growing up. Then again, some folks in
the States still spell "goodbye" "good-by" ;^)

It is also interesting to note that the word "ciao" is also spelled
"tschau" in Germany... :^)
