period hats

I would like to make a copy of the hat that Katherine Parr wears in the portrait of 
her in the red high-necked gown.  She is wearing a small Elizabethan hat over 
some kind of coif.  It doesn't really look like a plain old coif.  Does anyone have 
any ideas on how to reproduce it?
