Hehehe. One of my favourites. After that huge rant I just posted about
songs at events, I have to explain to the populace outside the Storvik
area who may not have ever been to the Performer's Revel exactly what
it is. It is an Official SCA Event<tm>. It is also, however, much less
formal than most events in that it is always hosted by Mistress Fevronia
and Master Igor at their home. Every year Master Igor proves that cooking
is a performance art, and Mistress Fevronia enchants one and all with
her voice and harp. Part of the price of admission is a performance of
some kind. This can be music, a song, a poem, a recitation from a play.
It can also be non-period, and often downright silly, like the Harry
Belafonte version of the Deo Gratias. This is a small event and Igor
and Fevronia have to cap attendence at around 30 or so, but when it
comes around (which, if I remember from our recent Barony meeting, will
be the end of January), try to get in a reservation. It's loads of
fun.
