As an advocate of authenticity in garb in a recent debate, I apologize for
the rude, uncouth, and villein-like way in which you were treated. Such
discourtesy, surprising in the extreme from (as you put it) a long-time SCA
participant, is indicative of someone with a serious mundane personality
problem. Frankly, the incident reminds me of a anecdote centering on people
like who seem to walk through life with a figurative "kill me, kill me" sign
tacked to their forehead--with the individual in question getting what he
asked for when he meets up with the wrong person.
What to do in the SCA context? I would more than halfway advocate the
immediate convocation of list of honor, with either the insulted party
personally participating or selecting a champion to resolve the matter.
Authenticity is one thing--rudeness is another. Just my thoughts.
