Stephan of Caer Mear posed the situation where a squire in fealty to his
knight becomes a territorial Baron, asking how to deal with the potential
conflicts in fealty.


The Crown can resonably expect that the new Baron would place his 
obligations to the Kingdom above those to his Knight. There is nothing 
wrong with remaining in fealty to his Knight, or any other parties, so long
as the priorities are clear. Of course, this is all negotiable.
