You are only slightly confused.
An Elizabethan woman wearing doublet-and-hose instead of a gown
(e.g., Rosalind in "As You Like It") would *be* a TV.

OTOH, if "TV" stands for "television" instead of "transvestite",
the Elizabeth model was too big to be carried by anyone; it
had to be built in place.  It consisted of a dark chamber with
a mirror and a lens in the ceiling to focus distant sights onto
a table.
