Spring Coronation A&S

Greetings!
Eogan's message on his bardic competition (I'm sorry you won't be there,
Eogan) has nudged me into a reminder of some of the other activities for
you at Coronation.

The Royal Armorer, Lyanna ferch Gwynhelek, wrote a very persuasive
letter to the Acorn about the Royal Armorer competition to be held at
Coronation. Please contact any armorers you know and encourage them to
enter this competition. The rules for the competition, as stated by
Lyanna, are as follows:
"No MODERN fantasy armor. This prohibition does not include
grotesque/fantastic armors of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. No
plastic armor, fencing doublets or military uniforms. While fencing
doublets may be classified as armor in an SCA context, they do not
qualify as a traditional form of armor as they were worn as civilian
clothes - ie. off the field. Jacks and other appropriate forms of
quilted armor are acceptable. Finally, all works must have adequate
documentation (if in doubt, contact me, I'll explain)."
She also states in a preceding paragraph "Remember, it doesn't have to
be a recent piece of work! Please, please enter a meritorious piece and
show off your skill."

Also, the Kingdom Minister of Arts and Sciences office will again
sponsor the competition, "Their Majesties Treasure Chest". This
competition has been held at the last two Coronations and both sets of
Crowns have expressed what a great help to them these gifts were. The
Crowns of Atlantia are put in many situations where they give gift
baskets to visiting Royalty or present gifts to Royalty they are
visiting. They love to give gifts made by our artisans. The rules for
the competition are very simple and are as follows:
Works, made by the artisan, that the artisan is donating to Their
Majesties for use as gifts. No documentation is needed. Small gifts in
sets of two up to twelve are greatly appreciated. Her Majesty selects
The Best of Show.

As usual, there will also be an Open Display for artisans that desire to
place their work on display for the populace to see. This can be a great
way to inspire newcomers in the SCA. Please consider exhibiting your
work. I know that the Arts and Science display was the first place I
headed for at my very first event.
