Real answer: Because most people can't blazon worth a darn, and
because, in period, it was the picture that got blazonned, not
the blazon that got drawn. An incompetent blazon results in a
hideous picture, and not in the lovely coat of arms that you
submitted.

At the risk of getting me chucked out of the club, yeah. There's
any number of heralds who are out there who got put into the job
because Corpora requires your local branch to have a herald, and
not because they have any particular desire to do the job or any
specialized knowledge of onomastics (names) or armory. I've
helped Jae with submissions from those poor guys, and I have a
great deal of sympathy for them and their clients. Blazon's not
the easiest skill to pick up.
