Academie of the Rapier
September 26-28, 1997
The Barony of Windmasters' Hill once again invites one and all to the
Academie of the Rapier.
Saturday -- Classes! Classes! Classes! There will be rapier classes and A&S
classes. Prizes will be played, and there will be a Novice Tourney for
those authorized since the last Academie -- Nov 8, 1996.
A bag lunch will be available Saturday for a modest fee.
Children's activities will take place from 2 to 4 on Saturday.
A&S Competitions -- There will be a Sonnet competition as well as an
on-site poetry competition with words provided. Also, there will be a late
period needlework competition. The categories are: Blackwork, Stumpwork,
and Lace.
Sunday -- Rapier Tourney and MELEES!
Make your reservations early, as feast seating is limited to 95. Send
reservations to Branwen (Tammy Jones) 5901 Applewood Ln, Raleigh, NC,
27609. Fees: Onboard = $11
Offboard/Day trip = $5
Children 7-12 = Half Price
Children 0-6 = Free
CHILDREN MUST HAVE RESERVATIONS IF ON BOARD

Directions:
Take your best route to I-40 at Raleigh. Take exit #297 (Lake Wheeler Rd.)
If traveling from the EAST turn left at the top of the ramp. If traveling
from the WEST turn right at the top of the ramp. Turn right at the 3rd
stoplight (Ten Ten Rd.) -- Be patient. It's a good distance. Turn left
onto Johnson Pond Rd. Turn Right onto Optimist Farm Rd. The site is on
the right.
