Good folk of the Bridge,
I bring these tidings to you of Duke Merowald, that you may send
whatever wishes you will, in whatever way you deem most appropriate. Duke
Merowald wrote to me this week...

*****************************************
I'm scheduled to have my mitral valve repaired at sometime around
noon next Tuesday (23 Sept.) at the Columbia North Florida Regional Medical
Center in Gainesville. Scaaarry!

                                                Yours, M-wald
*****************************************

So Merowald, from the heart of the Middle Kingdom, is having his own heart
opened and repaired. "Gainesville" is Gainesville, Florida, near the center
of the state.

Merowald and his wife Lady Sara were down a couple weeks ago staying
at Sir Severin and Mistress Lisabeta's house, and bunches of us got
together, went to dinner and partyed, singing and playing music, getting
Merowald to sing some of the old Robin Hood songs that he and Dan Oakenfist
wrote together when they were travelling Europe (and stayed overnight in
Sherwood Forest...). Pretty cool. Merowald and I were getting teased by
some of our more visceral friends about how either Merowald and I could go
on at-length on whatever topic, so he and I were at opposite ends of the
pool and started singing back and forth, "Blah blah Blah blah, Blah blah,
Blah blah Blah; yak yak yak yak..." to the tune of "Dueling Banjos". That
stopped the criticizing when we took that ball and ran with it!

He's known of this surgery for some time now, and has been in good
spirits in spite of it. I included that anecdote mainly to show that he is
still his old self and quite resilient. I asked him, and he said that he
wouldn't mind me letting folks know about the operation who might wish to
know. What better way to reach his friends than here, and asking that you
good gentles pass this on to other friends of his that might not walk this
Bridge. I promise I will post any further news the minute I receive it.

                        Sin Cere,
                      Lord Jens Vetrar
Squire to Sir Fredrich Karl Kyburg,
               Barony of Wyvernwood, Trimaris
