Well, it will of course depend on what awards you're talking about, but in
some cases at least, some of those medieval awards (like say the Order of
the Garter) still exist and it would be pretty presumptuous to call an SCA
award after a still-existing chivalric order ... not to mention possibly
illegal in Britain.  Here in Scotland, after all, Lord Lyon *still* has
total regulatory authority over heraldic displays of any kind.
