Yes.......a good friend of mine who lives in that area and knows the Coopers
well said the same thing. In past years, most people would be gone or leaving
by Monday morning. The Coopers could then go around during the next few days
and make sure the odd number of remaining folks would be moving on soon.
But the situation slowly grew worse. When it would come to Wednesday after the
war had ended, and they were finding a couple hundred people still
encamped....the situation was deemed out of control.
It seems to me that was also the year of the great mud.....I remember I was
leaving on Monday that year...........
