Last names for persona
Poster: akratts@boole.com
Hi All,
I'm in the midst of choosing my persona. I've taken a look at the lists and
lists of names in the Academy of St. Gabriel Library, and I've had no
problem finding a first name. (By the way, are diminutives allowed as
registered first names?) It's the last name that I'm having an issue with.
There are not nearly as many last names listed.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to find a last name? Being (mostly)
of German descent, I'm interested in created a German persona from around
1150-1300.
Another question: Are family genealogies accepted as documentation for
names? I have two family genealogies, one for the English/Scottish side,
one for the German side, going back to around 1365. If I chose a name from
one of those books, is that acceptable documentation?
I know there are heralds on this list but since everyone who's got a
persona has dealt with this issue in their own way, please feel free to
answer.
Thanks for your help,
Aimee
