I've checked with a friend of mine who is a higher up type person with the
Catholic Church. She says that there's no de-consecration ceremony for
chalices "but there is for sacred spaces" First thing she said to do was
take it to a jeweler for an appraisal. As far as the Church is concerned,
the chalice will always belong to God, you are it's present steward and
therefore should treat it appropriately. Using it for feast (if done with
reverence ) is OK but wearing it from a belt when bopping from one drinking
party to another is not.
