I am intrigued and pleased at all this.  We're supposed to be a bunch of
monarchists, but the level of modern political awareness seems to be pretty
high.

Perhaps it's because we have seen, both in reading history and first hand,
what the shortcomings of monarchy can be!

No, I never considered myself a monarchist.  I consider myself a student
of medieval times trying to recreate the best parts of the middle ages and
the monarchy is a part of my game.  However I never considered myself to
prefer a monarchy as to preferring a democracy in real life.  Course maybe
we have different definitions of a monarchist.
