I could see a king demanding a repetition of his subjects' oaths
under only a rather limited set of circumstances. One of them
would be something like the Wars of the Roses, in which Henry VI
and Edward IV both got bounced in and out of the palace, and, as
a result, the old oaths might need a bit of burnishing up.
